Fazel Amirvahedi
Background: biotechnology
As a student in the interdisciplinary field of biotechnology, I have been studying and investigating various subjects, from bioreactor design to genetic engineering. I have worked on differential gene expression analysis on AMD/non-AMD patients towards finding potential biomarkers with the help of machine learning and different feature selection techniques. At the moment, for my master’s thesis, I would like to search for meaningful correlations between molecular biomarkers and those biomarkers which are extracted from electrophysiology data of neuropsychological disorders such as autism etc. For my future research horizon, I am interested in using multi-omics alongside electrophysiological data like fMRI, EEG and etc., in order to prediagnosis neural diseases.

My graduation background is in Molecular Biology. My master's thesis was on determining breast cancer biomarkers by computational systems biology, bioinformatics, analysis of biological networks and experimental validation. I have sound expertise in a wide range of molecular and biochemical techniques. Recently, I am working on the discovery of novel genes and non-coding RNAs as biomarkers for gynecological diseases such as uterine fibroids and PCOS using systems biology and machine learning approaches. I am interested in the field of computational systems biology and bioinformatics with specific focus on reproductive biology and gynecological cancers.
